Queensland Family Adventure – Day 2

Thank god for the time difference! I set my alarm this morning for 8.50am to ensure we made it to breakfast but at home that’s actually 9.50am so even though I woke up almost an hour before my alarm it was still a great sleep in.

We got up and strolled down to the lobby to eat our included breakfast. Wow great breakfast buffet, eggs all ways, bacon, sausages, hash browns, mushrooms, yogurts, fruits, cereals, toast, juices.. Yum!

Check out was at 10am so after breakfast we went back to our room to grab our things then dropped our things and check out at reception. Our ferry wasn’t until 3.10pm so we had the rest of the day to relax. First stop pool for an hour or so but there’s only so much sun baking and pool you can do. We ended up looking for creatures in the shallows at the beach but didn’t find much only this really cool little spotted shark.

We decided it was lunch time so we went back to mermaids restaurant because we really enjoyed it the night before and it was right near where we were sitting. The view from mermaids during the day is amazing, such a great place to sit for a meal and some drinks.

After lunch we played a bit more at the beach and in the resorts reef until it was time to hop back on the ferry to the mainland. The ferry was smooth and short which was great and when we got off mum and dad were there waiting for us, yay we are united!!

Time to get the keys to our crib and explore our new neighborhood. We went to Harcourts Airlie Beach who is managing the apartment we are staying at to grab our keys then drove just up the road to a high fancy looking area. A little freaked out at first and feeling very stressed it appeared the driveway was steep and too tight for our car and boat. This really made me mad because I had requested that the place be boat friendly and didn’t want to let my family down. We decided to go for a look at the parking before attempting to maneuver it and pleasantly discovered it would fit our and boat, thank god!!!

We parked, grabbed our things and headed up to our room, beautiful place.. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, huge living area with full kitchen and large entertaining balcony with amazing ocean view. They call it Callers Lodge and I was pretty happy with it, plenty of room for the 5 of us.
After dropping our stuff off we drive down to the Main Street to grab some things and dinner. We decided Salt Restaurant was the place tonight, food wasn’t bad, atmosphere wasn’t bad, I would go back. Steaks for around $30 and a huge seafood platter for $69pp seemed reasonable. Full and happy we went to Woolworths to get snacks and dinner tomorrow seeing as the boys are off fishing and us girls to the reef. I’m nervous and excited! Night!!
